DR. IOANNIS TSANIS

TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF CRETE/McMASTER UNIVERSITY

Dr. Tsanis holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from University of Toronto.  He worked as a NSERC Visiting Fellow in the National Water Research Institute (NWRI) in Burlington,Ontario and as a University Research Fellow (URF) and Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at McMaster University.  Currently he is a Professor Emeritus at McMaster University, an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at York University, a Professor in the School of Environmental Engineering at Technical University of Crete, and an Associate Fellow Member of GERICS (Climate Service Center Germany) in Hamburg.  His research interests are in areas of integrated water resources management and nearshore areas, hydraulic/hydrologic modeling, extreme events (floods and droughts) and climate change impacts on water resources, tourism, energy and agriculture.
